Fish Creek Little League Families,

I’m pleased to share that in the first two weeks of registration we have already had more than 350 participants sign-on for our 2021 House League Season. The safe return of youth sports to our community, along with all the benefits it brings to the mental and physical health of our youth and their families, is more crucial now than ever – by this initial response I’d say many of you agree.

In my last note to you I mentioned the uncertainty that we are all facing. The effects of relaxing restrictions, vaccine roll-out, Covid variants and government policy will all influence if and/or how our season progresses. We have heard from many of you that this uncertainty is weighing heavily on your decision whether or not to register your child. Similarly, this uncertainty weighs heavily on us as an organization. I hope you can appreciate the complexities of arranging a season involving roughly 1000 participants across 6 divisions, playing in 25 different locations all supported by an amazing team of about 200 volunteers.  Each year the FCLL Board dedicates months worth of effort, and commits tens of thousands of dollars to preparing for a season, all before the first pitch is thrown on Opening Day. Thus as a Board, we must ensure that any potential disruptions to our season are made known and understood, and to best extent possible, that any significant risks to the League be mitigated. It is because of these efforts, that last year, we were able to provide every registrant with a full refund when the 2020 Spring House League Season was cancelled.

In this same spirit, we have continued to assess our risks of proceeding with a season this year and have worked with our various stakeholders to provide greater assurance and clarity. With this in place, I would like to further expand on our previous communications and outline for you how we will be handling cancellations, postponements and refunds for the 2021 Spring House League Season.

Cancellation, postponement or disruption of the season by the League:

  • Cancellation of season prior to Opening Day (considered the official ‘start of the season’ and tentatively scheduled for April 26, 2021)
    • In the event that Covid or other factors force the League to cancel the season prior to start of the season (tentatively scheduled for April 26, 2021), all registrants will receive a full refund of their registration fees.
  • Postponement of the season prior to Opening Day
    • In the event that Covid or other factors force Fish Creek Little League (the League) to postpone the start of the season the League will, at its discretion, adjust the schedule to minimize the impact of lost games. This may include moving games to weekends, or for T-Ball to non-designated days. (Note: This is consistent with our standard practice for dealing with weather delays that impact the start of the season.) If this postponement continues beyond May 16, 2021, the League will at its discretion either; A. Cancel the season and provide registrants with a full refund of their registration fee; or B. Shorten the season and return a pro-rated portion of the registration fee collected – the exact amount and form (e.g., cash refund or program credit) of the refund will be at the discretion of the FCLL Board.
  • Disruption of the season after Opening Day
    • After the start of the season, should Covid or other factors force the League to temporarily disrupt the season (e.g., temporary community health restrictions imposed or team-level outbreak requiring mass isolation occurs) the League will, at its discretion, adjust the schedule to minimize the impact of lost games. This may include moving games to weekends, or for T-Ball to non-designated days.
  • Cancellation of season after Opening Day
    • After then start of the season, should Covid or other factors force the League to cancel the season the League will return a pro-rated portion of the registration fee collected – the exact amount and form (e.g., cash refund or program credit) of the refund will be at the discretion of the FCLL Board.

Player withdraws or is unable to participate:

  • Player/Registrant Withdraws
    • T-ball & Coach Pitch:

      • Withdraw after April 1st:  Registration fees less a $25 administration fee will be refunded.
      • Withdraw after first game played:  No Refunds.
    • Minors, Majors & Teenage:
      • Withdraw on or prior to March 10th:  Full Refund.
      • Withdraw after March 10th:  Registration fees less a $100 administration fee will be refunded.
      • Withdraw after first game played:  No Refunds.
  • Player/Registrant is unable to participate after Opening Day
    • After the start of the season, should Covid or other factors cause a Player/Registrant to be unable to participate (e.g., they are required to self-isolate as directed by the health authority), no refund or credit will be provided for time missed.

I hope this helps provide you with some clarity on our refund and cancellation policy.

Be well,

Mustang
